THE WISC PROGRAM IN OXFORD IN BRIEF

  • WISC has made it possible for qualified students (with a GPA of 3.2 or higher after two years of university) to study in Oxford for one, two or three terms as an Associate Member of one of several Oxford colleges. Five educational tours per term are included.
  • Fees for Associate Members for one term (13 weeks) in 2007-2008 are $18,580 (plus meals).
  • Students, if they wish, may receive a transcript from an accredited US university Ñ The University of the Pacific in California, with which WISC is associated.
  • Students may have Associate Member status at Trinity College (founded in 1554), at Christ Church (1546) or at New College (1379). The first`two colleges require higher GPAs. All four of these distinguished colleges (see below) generally rank in the top 25% of the Oxford Colleges Academic League Tables.
  • Students with GPA's of 3.5 or higher may apply for Visiting Student status which includes full university privileges at one of two Medieval colleges - New College (1379) and Magdalen College (1458). Magdalen requires a minimum GPA of 3.6 (the fees are substantially higher). The Oxford College always makes the admissions decision.
  • All tutors are highly qualified and experienced; all are fellows or lecturers of Oxford colleges. None are graduate students.
  • Graduate study is possible.
  • Laboratory study in the sciences is possible.
  • Students may study in tutorial courses at frequent intervals in the summer from May 13 to September 30. Students who enroll on May 13 will have the benefit of all extra-curricular activities, etc. of the last 4 or 5 weeks of the Trinity (Spring) term.
  • All students live in single rooms with British students in the center of Oxford.
  • Each house has a phone, computer (with wireless broadband internet access throughout the house), TV and video.
  • Students study for 12-13 weeks a term (almost a semester) in one-on-one tutorial courses with14-18 meetings a term. As a result almost any academic subject may be studied.
  • WISC (with related programs) is the largest overseas study program in Oxford with over 400 students last year. WISC has the largest staff in Oxford, 7 persons who are able to solve problems, etc. quickly. References from U.S. professors (some of which have spent a year in Oxford) and students are available. WISC students have previously studied at 550 U.S. Colleges, over the last 22 years.
  • WISC is the only educational institution in the world which offers a money-back guarantee if even one of 20 verifiable promises is not met.
